Fort Walton Beach is home to the only museum in the world dedicated
to Air Force armament memorabilia, including the legendary B-52 Bomber.
There is a museum for children with 200 plus interactive exhibits
and one that spans 10,000 years of Native American occupations that
boasts a stunning pottery collection. The kids might enjoy a trip
to a Shark Moat, petting dolphins or listening to talking tropical
birds. There are plenty of attractions for adults too. The Northwest

Air
Force Armament Museum
The
only museum in the world dedicated to the collection, preservation,
and exhibition ofthe artifacts and memorabilia associated with the
Air Force armament, exhibits include the famous B-52 Bomber and
the F-16 Jet Fighter. Located outside the Eglin Air Force Base,
the museum is free to the public and open everyday except federal
holidays.
Camp Walton
Schoolhouse
Constructed
in 1911, the Camp Walton Schoolhouse was the first schoolhouse to
be built in Fort Walton Beach. Closed in 1936, the building has
been preserved and is now open for reservation groups.
Emerald
Coast Science Center
A
museum for children and families, the Emerald Coast Science Center
is filled with more than 250 touchable, interactive exhibits that
teach about natural phenomena and basic scientific principles. Located
in a beautiful waterfront park, there is plenty of room for picnics
and parties.
Gulfarium
Live
marine shows and a variety of animal exhibits amuse visitors of
all ages. Tropical Birds that talk, a Shark Moat, and Dolphins that
enjoy being petted are just a few of the attractions that are offered.
The live shows run every two hours and all shows have covered seating.

Gulf Breeze
Zoo
Home
to more than 700 wild, domesticated, and endangered animals; the
Zoo offers daily shows, lush botanical gardens, and special programs
such as youth day camps and Zoosnooze, an overnight campout in the
wild. Walking trips and Safari Line Train Rides allow you to explore
the 30 acres of free-roaming animals in their natural habitat. The
Zoo is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. 7 days a week, excluding
Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas, and New Year's Eve.
Indian Temple
Mound and Museum
A
National Historic Landmark, the museum houses exhibits depicting
10,000 years ofNative American occupation. The museum boasts a stunning
collection of pottery and the temple mound. Nestled on museum grounds,
the temple mound is one of the largest prehistoric earthworks on
the Gulf Coast. Hours vary seasonally.
Northwest
Florida Ballet
Founded
in 1969, the Company has become well known for its presentations
of classicsas well as new and innovative choreography. Featuring
traveling outdoor shows and a variety of seasonal performances,
Northwest Florida Ballet serves the entire Panhandle of Florida.
Sasquatch Zoo and Wildlife Park
Boasting
over 200 exotic animals, the Sasquatch Zoo provides an educational
and enjoyable visit with exotic animals from all over the world.
Many animals may be hand-fed or petted. Hours vary, reservations
suggested.
The Arts
Center at Okaloosa-Walton Community College
The
cultural and artistic center for all of Northwest Florida, the Center
features a 1,650 seat main theater, a 195-seat flexible Sprint Theater,
an art wing with two galleries, a music wing, a recording studio
and instructional facilities for students. Open to both students
and the public, the facilities are unparalleled in the entire region.
